Character Profiles-FIXATION

Eileens' Character Profile:
 More Information:
This character is very disturbed who has a fetish for young boys, she has recently been watching the character James and in the film her planning with come to head when James has a birthday party. Ellien herself is very confined, she has little friends and does not speak to her family and works part time as an office assistant and in her spare time watches James closely. The character is very simplistic and does not care about her appearance to the outside world however later on during the film we see her more complex side and how her past has affected her. However at the moment her whole being is consumed by James.

James' Character Profile:

After watching James's character profile we felt that it was too childish for 16 year old, we also noticed errors in what he was saying. For example he said he was 15 and studding A levels- this is not possible in the UK, due to these continuity errors we re shot. Above is the new character profile and below is the original.

Shooting Schedule-FIXATION

Below I have created a shoot schedule to help achieve each shot, I also felt it necessary to include a props/equipment column, because, as learnt from previous experience, things are always forgotten when shooting so by having this column it will help the team remember what is needed in each individual shot. The shot description is also an aid to help remember what the shots include, due to the location and people involved we would prefer not to re-shoot due to a missed shot. I feel that by having this shot list handy during filming it will help the group know the direction and order of shots. I have also abbreviated some words to make it easier to understand for example: M/L is medium long, O/S is over the shoulder shot and EL/S is extreme long shot.

Shot List-FIXATION

As you can see we have created a shot list to help us understand what shots we wanted, as seen on my Production Dairy our shot list did not originally look like this, we altered the list multiple times before coming up with the final one (above).

Presentation Feedback- FIXATION

After presenting our first idea for our opening film, we recieved mixed feedback from the class, above is what we were told.

Moodboard for FIXATION

Inspirational films, titles and graphology for FIXATION

Above is the insparational graphology.

Whilst researching for thriller opening scenes, we discovered that most of the title sequences that we found had the titles put on top of the scene in the background and we thought that this is a good idea for us to replicate this idea and include this into our opening scene. The font flickers when they are shown on the screen and this gives a good thriller affect. They are also in handwritten font, but i think this is because throughout the opening scene there is lots of books and writing that looks as through it has been written so this incorporates well within the background scene and the titles themselves.

We also found that the opening sequence of Napoleon Dynamite fitted perfectly to what we wanted to do, although the genre of this film is not a thriller the way the producers etc. titles are put into the scene are what we want to do for the opening of our film.                                                                The link to Napoleon Dynamite is below:
Napoleon Dynamite (2004) — Art of the Title

After researching some more I found that the film 'Taken' is similar to our own so we watched the titles of Taken and believed that these would fit our opening perfectly, so we have taken our final inspiration from the film and will be using them in our own company.
