Opening sequence evaluations A/S examples.

I really liked this small clip- especially as its a romantic comedy, it looks really professional (as professional as an A/S clip could be) i would probably give the film a 54 out 60 purely because it is hard to find faults in the opening, it is obvious it has the characteristics of a level four piece, the camera angles are varied, the titles are appropriate for the genre conventions, the mise-en-scene is also relatively well done for the genre conventions. The park is a typical place for a romantic heart to heart as well as the clothing adds to the intimacy of their relationship. Also the varied shots including a pan, medium shots and close all add up to the mark I have given.

"Year of the Serpent" is quite possibly one of my favourite films from the A/S media groups, i find it really interesting how they create the confusion for the audience, we feel really disoriented and don't have a clear idea(the enigma code) why is there a man in the air vent? The genres/ mise-en-scene  of a thriller are well presented here for example the clothing ( in black) shows/suggesting the man is mysterious, this also adds to the level 4, the camera angles are almost perfect, there is little shaking and the stability of the filming is so good. Adding the music, i believe the piece would get 56/60.
